Computer Operations

Controls provide reasonable assurance that computer operations are scheduled, processing problems are resolved, and backups of data and system files are made timely.

  • Changes to the job schedule are approved by an authorized individual.
  • An on-call team member performs daily cycle balancing procedures and any processing problems are directed to the team leader.
  • The processing cycle automatically performs regular balancing functions and will cease and notify the on-call team member if the processing numbers are out of balance.
  • Backup tapes are automatically created based on the backup job schedule.
  • Backup copies of data files and programs are maintained in a locked, fireproof offsite storage area.
  • A tape management system provides for the use and control of tape media.
  • Media is assigned a unique volume serial number and filed in the library.
  • Media is reconciled to the tape management system periodically.
