Yellow Book Audits
In an effort to provide guidance to auditors who examine state and local governments and federal programs, the federal government created the Government Standards for Auditing, or the “Yellow Book.” The standards in this book apply to both financial and performance audits of government agencies, and focus on five general standards:
- Independence
- Due Care
- Continuing Professional Education (CPE)
- Supervision
- Quality Control
It's important that you choose a firm who has experience in performing audits using this code of standards and has dedicated experts in yellow book audits to ensure that these types of audits are done efficiently, effectively and are documented properly.
